Origins

The figure, the portrait, and the natural world were present in my work from the beginning.

These drawings and paintings were grounded in observation, but also in memory and curiosity. Through portraiture, still life, and studies of the figure, I explored how paint and charcoal could hold a sense of presence—how an image could convey not only what is seen, but something felt.

This work established the foundation for everything that followed. It shaped how I see the figure—not as a fixed object, but as something alive, responsive, and constantly shifting.

That interest in emotional presence continues in my current work, but has expanded beyond the studio into a deeper exploration of the relationship between the figure, memory, and the natural world.
